Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the websites, apps, APIs, and related services operated under the Sonner AI brand (“Sonner AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including French accent training, scoring, and practice features (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, accessing the Service, or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who may use the Service

You must be able to form a legally binding contract in your jurisdiction and meet any minimum age we require in your region (typically at least 16, or older where the law demands). If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.

2. Accounts and security

You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. The Service

Sonner AI provides tools to practice French pronunciation, including recording your voice, analyzing audio, displaying scores or feedback, and related content (for example passages, drills, text-to-speech playback). Features may vary by platform (web, iOS, Android) and subscription tier. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service with reasonable notice when practicable.

4. Paid plans and billing

Paid features require a subscription or purchase processed by our payment partners (such as Stripe, app store billing, or other checkout providers we designate). Fees, renewal terms, and taxes are presented at checkout. Until you cancel in accordance with the applicable store or payment processor, subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate. Failure to pay may result in loss of paid access.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Violate any law or third-party rights.
  • Harass others, distribute malware, or attempt to compromise our systems.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service; circumvent security, rate limits, or paywalls.
  • Use the Service to build a competing pronunciation product using our outputs, models, or data sets in breach of these Terms.
  • Upload unlawful content or content you do not have rights to submit for processing.

6. User content and license

You retain ownership of audio, text, and other materials you submit (“User Content”). To operate the Service, you grant Sonner AI a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, transmit, transcribe or convert, analyze, display, and create derivative scoring or feedback based on User Content solely to provide and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Service—including software, branding, UX, aggregated analytics, training content structure, and documentation—is owned by Sonner AI or its licensors. Except for the limited rights expressly granted here, no rights are transferred to you.

8. Third-party services

We rely on vendors for infrastructure, analytics, artificial intelligence models, speech synthesis, email, payments, and app distribution. Their terms and privacy notices may apply in addition to ours.

9. Feedback

If you send suggestions or feedback, we may use it without obligation or compensation to you, except where prohibited by law.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ANY OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Automated accent feedback is probabilistic and may be incomplete or inaccurate; it is coaching software, not linguistic certification, tutoring, healthcare, or professional advice.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SONNER AI AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER MANDATORY LAW (FOR EXAMPLE SOME CONSUMER RIGHTS IN YOUR COUNTRY).

12. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Sonner AI against third-party claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your User Content, your misuse of the Service, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our misconduct.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, or if we must do so to comply with law. Provisions that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms with a new “Last updated” date and, where required, provide additional notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires a different process.

15. Governing law and disputes

Subject to mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Delaware (or competent courts in your home jurisdiction where mandatory law requires local venue) shall have jurisdiction over disputes not subject to arbitration below.

Where permitted, you and Sonner AI agree that disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis under the rules of the American Arbitration Association; you waive any right to participate in class actions. Consumers who cannot legally be bound by arbitration may pursue claims in courts of competent jurisdiction.
